Chandigarh: The first meet of Chandigarh Chapter of indian Economic Association under the banner of Chandigarh Economic Development Association(CEDA) was organised at DAV College, sector 10C Chandigarh. Dr. Kanwaljit Kaur, Associate Prof in Economics, SGGS COLLEGE and president of CEDA , Dr Himanshu, secretary of CEDA, Dr S Prakasm and Dr. Manjit sharma welcomed Dr Upinder Sawhney, prof in Economics, Pu Chandigarh and Dr M.M Goyal, prof . Of Economics and former dean , faculty of social science, Kurukshetra university. The lecture began with an enlightening discourse on "Public Policy Issues- A case of Punjab" by Dr Upinder Sawhney who threw light on deteriorating fiscal position in the state and the asociated policy paralysis. She also said that its time that govt. Came out of the denial mode and pulled up its socks towards arresting the deceleration in growth. In the second half of the lecture, Dr M.M Goyal gave the lecture on union budget 2015-16. He gave a number of recommendation amongst which to wipe every tear from every eye of our beloved nation, skill development is the need of the hour. The provision for skill india are right but needs mass movement to improve communication skills in general and English in particular so that employability of youth in MARKETING can take place not only in India but elsewhere in the world. The meet was attended by teachers from Economics department of all colleges as well as PU,Chandigarh. It was a vibrant one.
